Business Coaching:

Winning Private Homecare Clients

I started Beloved Homecare with my wife Rachael in 2020 and after COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill, was finally registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2021.

Wirral local authority refused to allow any new provider onto their framework due to strict requirements of needing a “Good” or higher grade issued by the CQC - something the CQC will not provide unless inspected.

I was forced to find private clients to keep the service running, which he was able to do due to his previous experience as a business consultant.

I still procure private clients for the service today and have expanded into North Wales with another branch as a result.

Business Coaching: Expand and Scale Your Care Service

I recognised the poor fee levels made available by our local authority early on and although provided significant empirical evidence that demonstrated their lack of appropriate fees for care services, was unable to move the the authority to a stronger offer.

The only way to survive as a business was to scale, and quickly. This led to the acquisition of an existing care service in North Wales to allow further growth in the private care client space and with a much more forward looking local authority paying more reasonable rates.

So Beloved Homecare Ltd acquired Wepre Villa Homecare Ltd in January 2023 and we have continued to grow our geographical service offer from Ewloe and Mancot to Flintshire wide, with outlying areas of Denbighshire now added too.

I can show you how to do the same.

Business Coaching: Surviving Care

I recognised very early on that care as a service is not all sweetness and light. From care staff who let you down last minute, to local authority staff who expect the world without paying a penny for it, to clients who need more support than they are provided for, so you need to be creative to support them.

Then we have the multiple malicious and vexatious complaints from ex-wives and their partners, former staff with an axe to grind and so much more!

Somehow, the thick skin developed over years of working within the private security and construction sectors have allowed me to not only survive, but to thrive in the industry that is poorly led, inadequately funded and often times ignored by the government as a second cousin to the NHS.

Surviving the care sector means being able to navigate gross incompetence at all levels of leadership, being prepared to see the bar lowered at every opportunity and refuse to compromise your own standards.

This is something I am going to not only prepare you for, but help you to use the sheer volume of incompetence to your own advantage.

Business Coaching: Recruitment

Despite the nonsense from HM Government about employing British people in the care industry, the truth is, there are over 1 Million unemployed people right now and over 125,000 care jobs available. In short, the care sector could take 10% of the unemployed market tomorrow - but there is a problem….benefits pay too much.

A single parent with two children stands to net a benefit income of almost £30,000 per year. Can you blame them for not wanting to work unsociable hours, missing weekends and school holidays for £7,000 less than they get for free from benefits?

This is what the care sector offers:

  • Lowest paying industry

  • Most unfriendly hours of any sector

  • No overtime payments from local authority paymasters

  • Insufficient travel time for carers to travel between calls

  • Must drive (in many cases for domiciliary care)

  • Last minute rota changes due to hospitalisation, etc.

Not exactly a great advert for care work is it?

So in 2023 we decided to recruit from overseas and employed people from Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Uganda. Why? Overseas workers are not entitled to UK Benefits!

I now employ over 100 care workers from overseas as of May 2025.

The problem is the UK benefit system rewards people to make a life choice to stay unemployed because not only does it pay more, but it also gives you huge time freedom as well!

So now I can help you to recruit overseas workers via UKVI Sponsorship licence.

All the relevant safety checks are completed and care workers from overseas must be paid at least £12.82 per hour (as of April 2025).

Overseas workers are incredibly hard working and a credit to the UK economy. Many choose to work in excess of their contracted 40 hours per week as a personal choice.

I can help you to navigate the requirements of sponsorship as well as the need for ongoing monitoring, vetting and verification.

I can also help you to avoid the common pitfalls and mistakes employers make in hiring from overseas workers, because there is a good chance I have made the mistakes already!
